Living the GOOD LIFE for the REST OF YOUR LIFE!
IMPORTING A CAR
INTO CROATIA

Importing your car into Croatia isn’t difficult, but it does require a lot of paperwork. When you cross the border, or import via a shipping company, be prepared with the following:
Valid passport or ID card. If you have a visa for a
long-term stay, you must show it.
Residency permit or work permit.
Your native driver’s license and it is recommended
that you obtain an International Driving Permit to
have on hand as well.
Vehicle registration, indicating make, model, year,
type, number of doors, VIN number, physical
details of color, weight, horsepower, and type of
engine. This must be kept in the car at all times.
Proof of ownership, including bill of sale.
Insurance card and letter from insurance agency
stating length of time you have gone without an
accident.
New local insurance purchased from a Croatian
agency.
National identity sticker on the rear of the car.
(these are the little ovals seen on the backs of
many cars traveling throughout Europe.)
First Aid Kit with roadside emergency markers.
A spare tire and jack in working order.
Driving is Croatia is safe, but only if you drive defensively. The roads are narrow, the drivers are eager, and you must abide by the traffic rules. If you get a speeding ticket, it must be taken care of immediately, on the spot.
