As we state in all of our A Change of Lifestyle cost of living budgets, yours will depend on, well, your Lifestyle!  We will give you the basics here.

A comparison by a UK national living in Croatia stated that the cost of running a household, minus the cost of rent, would be 52% less in Croatia than the UK. 

    Transportation was 28% less
    Town services (water, sewage, garbage) were 90%
    less 
    Automobile insurance was 50% less 
    Dental services were 40% less  

All totaled, the cost of living in Croatia was 30% less than living in the UK.

For the purpose of this budget we will use the formula:  $1 US = 5.2 Kuna.  This is a monthly budget for two people living together:
    Rent:  $700 US
    Food:  $300 US
     (if you buy seasonally fresh food in local markets)
    Utilities and Technology:   $400 US
    (oil, electricity, internet,  television, telephone,
    mobile): 
    Dining Out:  $150 US  (2x/wk for 2) 
    Take-out Pizza$5 US
    Public Transportation:  
        Bus: $1.00US (good for 1.5 hours) 
        Daily Bus Pass:  $4.00 US
        (Students and retired people do not pay;   
         they ride with a yearly, free pass.)  
        Train from one side of Zagreb to the other: 
           $2.80 US
   
    Education:  $1800 US
          (2 semesters at University)  
    
    Health Coverage costs depend on your country of 
    origin and if you purchase a supplementary health
    insurance plan.
