Living the GOOD LIFE for the REST OF YOUR LIFE!

                         LEARNING FRENCH

Learning the language of a country means you are serious about living there and respectful of your new surroundings.  French is not a difficult language to learn, and in fact, many English words derive from the French language.  It is highly recommended that you learn French either before moving to France, or by taking an immersion course when you arrive in France.

As in any country, different regions have differing accents.  When selecting a language class, make it a point to inquire as to where the teacher is from originally.

Instructional videos and CDs prepare you for the basics of the French language.  Pop in a CD as you drive and before you pack your bags for France, your vocabulary will have expanded considerably.  In fact, you will be surprised at how much you retain once you get to and start living in France.  The immersion in the culture refines your skills.

It is comforting to know that if you begin a sentence in French, the people with whom you are speaking will recognize the fact that you are a newcomer, and more than likely they will finish your sentence for you.  If they do not speak English, or your native language, be patient.  You will ultimately obtain the information you require. The more respect you show for the French language, the better the response that will come your way.
