Living the GOOD LIFE for the REST OF YOUR LIFE!
TRAVEL TO MEXICO AND SAVOR MAZATLAN

Life in breezy Mazatlan, Mexico, with its seaside malacón and roughly 7,000 American and Canadian expatriates, is a dynamic blend of North and South America. Located along the Western edge of Mexico and almost atop the Tropic of Cancer, Mazatlan is where the Sea of Cortez begins. The Baja Peninsula is across the bay, and Puerta Vallarta is 275 miles to the South.
Known as Mexico’s Pearl on the Pacific, this former pearl-producing village is now a cosmopolitan working city not dependent on tourism. Many Americans drive to Mazatlan since it is close to the border, and keep their car for the duration of their residency.
Those who relocate to Mazatlan like the beach life of the Gold Zone, the history of its Old Town center, and the thriving night life, especially in-season.
Residents of Mazatlan traverse cultures every day. English language films coincide with a full season of cultural activities. Old colonial Mexico lives alongside the towering condominium blocks along the sea. Settlers from the north have been coming to Mazatlan for many years, and the influx of new residents is creating a “little America” out of their quaint Mexican village.
After sneaking away from our home in the desert of Arizona to vacation in Mexico many times, my wife and I decided to make oceanside living in the warm, gentle and uniquely different culture of Mexico a permanent part of our lives. Mazatlan is now our home.
Over the years we have developed more good friends, both Mexican and Norte Americanos, than we have ever had in any place we have been. Our cost of living is about 60% of what it would cost us to live a similar life in Arizona, but our quality of life here is hundreds of times better!! This place really works for us!

Health care in Mazatlan is state-of-the-art, with one resident reporting that several hours in the emergency room of the local hospital, including being treated by a doctor and leaving with his prescription medication cost all of $100.
Shopping in Mazatlan is a combination of all things desired. Big Box American retailers like Sam’s Club, Wal-Mart, Office Depot and Home Depot share space with local retailers. Just know that shopping in the American stores means higher prices.
If scouting Mazatlan for possible relocation, many residents suggest visiting in July, August and September. These are the hottest of the months, and when considering a new home, it’s best to see it at its worst! It’s also the least expensive time of the year to visit!
