"I live in Tepoztlán, which is about fifteen minutes east of Cuernavaca and about an hour south of Mexico City. It has been quite different from living in Oklahoma, and I have loved every day of it, including all the challenges. I love it here. I have built four apartments; we live in two of them and sometimes rent out the others. I plan to spend the rest of my life here."

WHY TRAVEL TO MEXICO?
When you experience the excitement and diversity of Mexico, you're engulfed by mariachi music, a lively atmosphere, a laid-back lifestyle and sunshine. And that easily describes the expat life in Mexico.

But the most prominent feature for expats moving to Mexico is the very affordable cost of living.  Living in Mexico is like living a vacation – every day!

Mexico is the winter residence of thousands of Canadians, Americans and British citizens, plus millions of Monarch Butterflies from Canada who chose to live in Mexico during the winter! The reason for the human relocation is simple – Mexico offers an incredible lifestyle for less cost!  For many, the life they left behind pales in comparison with the lifestyle available in Mexico!  For all, the weather can’t be beat!

Mexico is one of the most diverse and exciting countries in our relocation guide.  Teeming with outdoor sports venues that will appeal to the eco-tourist and adventurer, golfer or tennis buff, and surrounded by four seas, it offers an abundance of lifestyle alternatives extending from the Pacific Ocean to the Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean Sea.

The home of antiquities, glamour, solitude, rainforests, history and culture, plus the most World Heritage Sites in the Americas, Mexico will appeal to just about anyone looking to relocate.  It’s only a matter of finding the right spot!

Mexico’s closeness to the United States makes it appealing to many Americans who are seeking an alternative residence.  It can be reached by car, airplane or boat, and crossing the border isn’t difficult -- if you want to stay for a short visit or forever!

Many people choose to spend the winters in Mexico and return to their hometowns for the summer. Some, armed with the proper FM-2 visa, have jobs in Mexico and stay year-round.  We recommend that you speak with those who have made the decision to change their lifestyle, and weigh all the alternatives before you decide your next step.  Just know that your dollar will go a long way if you choose to live in Mexico, and for many that is a major factor influencing their decision.

Spreading across 32 states, Mexico’s highlands, desert and beach communities are the home to anywhere between 125,000 and one million Americans. Even the U.S. Government can’t pin down the exact number, but the largest concentration of Americans outside of the U.S. is located in Mexico.  So we’ll generalize and say that Americans, and a great many Canadians and British citizens ALL populate Mexico throughout the year, and every year brings more as they discover that life is easy, and affordable, in Mexico.

Medical Care
in Mexico is one of the biggest attributes this country has to offer.  Mexico prides itself on being one of the few countries in the world that provides excellent and affordable health care to those living within its borders.  Doctor visits, hospitalization and medicine costs are so nominal, and the care so excellent, that already people of all ages are recognizing that fact and making plans to move “South of the Border."

As a Spanish-speaking country, it will be important to your assimilation that you learn to speak Spanish.  In fact, regardless of which country you choose for your Change of Lifestyle, you will benefit greatly by learning the local language and customs.

On your left is an encyclopedia of information that will guide you as you sift through the information regarding relocating to Mexico.  As you read, please note that the dollar sign ($) is also the sign for Mexican pesos.  Prices quoted are stated as either US or Mexican.
