Learning how to speak the Thai language involves a different alphabet, understanding the differences in each character, understanding the meaning of each character, speaking it, and then translating it back to your own language.

Thai is tonal.  One word can mean several things, depending on how you say that word.  Having a good “ear” and listening to the pronunciation of every word will advance your ability to speak Thai.

While the language isn’t easy, it is always recommended that you learn a few basic words until you can immerse yourself in learning the language.  While many Thais speak English, do not rely on their ability to understand you.  You must understand them.  That is the only way an “us” will evolve out of your relationship with The Kingdom of Thailand.
